Bodegas Fuentenarro, Esenzias 2020

Bodegas Fuentenarro was founded by the Pérez Garcia family in 2002 and have quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting wineries in Spain's Ribera del Duero. Only farming old high altitude vineyards, Bodegas Fuentenarro are all about quality over quantity, and make some of our favourite Spanish reds. Esenzias 2020 is the estate's flagship wine and it's easy to see why. Made from 100% Tempranillo, taken from 90 year old vines sitting at an altitude of 840m and aged in French oak for 18 months, it's a big wine for big occasions. A nose of ripe blackberry, vanilla and coffee leads to a full-bodied, incredibly intense palate with further fruity notes and structured, sweet tannins. A wine which will stand up to all hearty, meaty dishes as well as mature cheese. Drinking well now but will continue to develop for time yet; 3,573 bottles made.
